In the UAE, where architecture is often defined by bold forms and flowing curves, this project challenged us to think beyond conventional elevator design.
The client envisioned a building shaped by elegant, sweeping lines rather than straight angles. To preserve that architectural language, a standard elevator was never an option.
Instead, we engineered a fully bespoke traction elevator featuring an oval cabin enclosed within a uniquely shaped curved shaft structure. Every dimension was customized to follow the building’s geometry, transforming the elevator from a technical necessity into an architectural centerpiece.
From the outside, the sculpted shaft mirrors the fluid contours of the facade. Inside, the oval cabin creates a softer and more spacious experience, while 180°panoramic glass frames breathtaking views of the bay and city skyline. As passengers travel between floors, the elevator feels less like transportation and more like a moving observation lounge suspended within the architecture itself.
Behind its elegant appearance lies a complex engineering achievement. The unconventional shaft geometry, curved structural framework, panoramic glazing, and non-standard cabin configuration required meticulous design and precision manufacturing to ensure perfect alignment and smooth operation.
